Jeju Haenyeo Exhibition, WA Maritime Museum

WA Maritime Museum ran the Jeju Haenyeo Exhibition in August and September 2021. The photographic exhibition focused on highlighting the remarkable women divers from South Korea known as Haenyeo (sea women).

As part of the exhibition, Professor of History at the Australian Catholic University and KRC Honorary Research Fellow, Professor Susan Broomhall, and KRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Dr Jae-Eun Noh, gave public talks on Sunday, 12 September 2021. Their talks explored topics related to the traditions of Korean community life, the role of pioneering women like the haenyeo, and the stories that surround them.
